This occurred after Darlene and I had been married about six months. Darlene mentioned that she was going to make some chocolate chip cookies. Before I went off to work, I reminded her that I was on a “light” diet, so requested that she only make one dozen cookies (none of my diets ever excluded any of Darlene’s cookies). So she immediately began putting things together to make a batch of dough for the cookies. She was about to bake them when she realized that she had made a triple batch of dough with chips – intended for 3 dozen cookies.
When I got home I asked how her day went and she replied, “Well I made your cookies and I only made one dozen.” I said, “Great, let me take a look.” And there they were, twelve cookies, about sixteen inches in diameter. I looked surprised for a moment and then kissed her for her cleverness. Her cookies met specifications – only twelve. No-one specified how large they should be. They were so large she said that they had to be cooked one at a time. And they tasted great!
